Measurement Computing

This Massachusetts-based computer manufacturer hired us to upgrade the public image of their 14,000-square-foot corporate headquarters. The rural setting of their big box facility was appealing, but the building lacked architectural distinction and the public spaces needed work.

We began by breaking up the long, low brick façade with a dramatic vertical wall of glass and steel. The new wall announces the entrance and encloses the lobby while supporting company signage and an angled canopy. The canopy morphs into a steel ceiling grid inside the lobby, creating a connection between the exterior and interior spaces. A series of three new skylights allows sunlight to filter through the ceiling grid and further brighten the space. Focal lighting, stylish stone flooring and carpeting visually connect the secure lobby with two conference rooms and the central corridor. A custom kiosk housing a “virtual receptionist” greets and entertains visitors.

The final composition visually expands the facility into the landscape at a faction of the cost of a new addition.
