Room to Grow
When this family came to us for help, they were rapidly growing out of their three-bedroom, one-and-half bath home in the Boston suburb of Newton. Careful market research proved adding an addition—rather than buying a bigger house in the neighborhood—was the cost-effective solution. More bonuses of staying put: getting exactly the space they wanted, keeping their kids close to friends, and maximizing their resale value.
With the renovation complete, the family now has more than enough breathing room. We doubled the size of the Victorian clapboard structure by adding a great room, kitchen, two bedrooms, bath and laundry rooms.
Turning the kitchen ninety degrees allows the family to cook while facing the great room light and views of their vegetable garden. Open architecture and generous passages makes for greater accessibility. The wrap-around porch is the perfect place to watch the world go by and gather for a meal with friends.
